Free WiFi Internet for PSP Announced by Sony Japan

Most of the times, when it comes to handheld gaming consoles, the Nintendo DS has fared better than the Sony PSP. But Sony has been doing a lot of things to offer gamers a better experience. A few weeks ago, Sony even announced about that the new PSP firmware will have Google search.

Well, now gaming blog Kotaku is reporting that Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has collaborated with FON, which is the world’s largest global WiFi community. The collaboration has resulted into a new service called as PSP×FON. Users in the region will be able to take advantage of a free internet browser using the PSP as the two firms will roll out FON access points.

The PSP×FON service will offer game demo downloads, wallpapers clips and other such stuff! Sony has made available downloadable goodies from the upcoming PSP game, Dissidia to mark the commencement of the service. There are lots of FON spots in Japan, some 44,400. In fact, the capital Tokyo itself has 2,200 hotspots.
