Silent Hills officially cancelled by Konami

One of the most awaited survival horror games, Silent Hills had grabbed a lot of attention when it was first revealed. Apart from that fact that it’s the newest installment to the much loved series in years, the game was also being looked forward to owing to the fact that game director Hideo Kojima, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and actor Norman Reedus were involved in it. However, it can now be confirmed that the title has officially been cancelled by Konami.

No proper reason for it has been given by the Japanese publisher for this. Through a statement to the press, it has conveyed that while it is still committed to new Silent Hill offerings, the Silent Hills project featuring Norman Reedus will not be pursued further. Speculation had begun a few days ago when Guillermo del Toro of Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim fame had apparently revealed that the development of Silent Hills was dead.

This was echoed by actor Norman Reedus who said on Twitter that he was ‘super bummed’ about the cancellation, as he was really looking forward to the game. Prior to this, Konami had announced that it will be taking down a playable teaser of the game from the PlayStation Network. This sort of a trial edition of the game was meant to grant gamers an idea of what will be on offer through the final version. The title was supposed to be a single-player offering developed exclusively for the PS4 console from Sony.
