About 50 percent of all PS4 owners have a PS Plus membership according to Sony

No one can deny the irresistibility of the perks which are on offer through the PS Plus service of Sony’s. And hence it’s mildly surprising that about half of all those people who’ve bought the company’s latest console have acquired for themselves the premium membership as well, providing themselves with access to online multiplayer, lucrative discounts and most importantly, free downloads of high-profile games for their PS3s and PS Vitas as well, apart from their PS4s.

PS Plus

During Sony’s latest financial call, none other than CEO Kazuo Hirai revealed that approximately half of all the PlayStation 4’s 4.2 million owners have signed up for the premium service, as revealed by Gamespot. It has also been disclosed that more than 150 million people have made PlayStation Network accounts which are of course free to setup.

PS Plus has been priced at about 5 USD (approx. Rs 310) per month, and while a three-month deal will set you back by 18 USD (approx. Rs 1,100), a one-year subscription costs 50 USD (approx. Rs 3,110). For the PS3 and the PS Vita, online multiplayer is still accessible without the Plus account, but that’s not the case for the PS4.

This is being seen as one of the prime reasons why there are so many PS Plus memberships among PS4 owners. The PS4 was launched back in November last year, and it was only in January this year that it officially made its way into India. It has been priced in the country at about Rs 40,000.
