The Sony PlayStation 4 console, or the PS4 as it’s fondly referred to as, has finally been blessed with its price and release date information for India. Interested parties can now place their pre-orders for the Rs 39,990 console through Snapdeal, and hope to have it delivered immediately following its January 6 release date.
As expected Sony announced all these important details regarding the console at its New Delhi event. Although no information about any possible bundles was provided by the company, it was indeed revealed that those interested in purchasing additional Dualshock 4 controllers will be able to do so it exchange of Rs 4,990. Same price also applies to the PS4 Eye camera.
Unveiled in February this year, the PS4 made its full-fledged debut at the E3 where its initial lineup of launch games was also showcased. In August itself, over a million pre-orders for it were placed. The console was first released in North America on November 15, and it sold more than one million units on that date.
The PS4 made its way into Europe, Australia and Brazil on November 29, and during this release phase too, it managed to break a record. Having sold 250,000 consoles in 48 hours in the UK, it became the best-selling console ever in the said region. As of December 3, over 2.1 million consoles were traded off all across the world by Sony, taking the company closer to its goal of selling 3 million units prior to the start of 2014.
