The Last of Us multiplayer finally showcased

That a multiplayer component will form a part of The Last of Us was announced long back, but we were yet to get an idea about how Naughty Dog will be incorporating it in the game. The studio has at last let out details regarding this, even as the title gears up to hit retail and download channels across the globe on June 14. The developer has revealed Factions to be the name of the multiplayer experience that will be included in the game along with its single-player campaign, of which we’ve heard a lot prior to this.

The Last of Us

It has been mentioned that the moment-to-moment survival aspects from the campaign have been laid stress on while building Factions. It features two teams that gamers can jump into – Hunters and Fireflies. A clan system has also been infused into it, with each player requiring to keep alive and grow their own clan. There are two multiplayer modes that they can be a part of. These are called Supply Raid and Survivor.

Supply Raid needs gamers to scavenge for items while fighting to keep their team alive. A set of twenty reinforcements will be available to them, but once they’re over, the game will move in sudden death. On the other hand, Survivors is a best-of-seven round in which the first team to win four rounds wins the match. It encourages players to be vigilant, as there are no respawns, asking them to wait for the next round to start again.

According to a post by Naughty Dog on the official PlayStation blog, the core gameplay within the multiplayer component of this title is very tactical, and features the same crafting system found in the single-player campaign. For stealth lovers, there’s a Listen Mode which can be employed by them for locating enemies and flanking them with silenced weapons. Lastly, fallen teammates don’t die at once, and they can be revived by their mates.
