Dead Space 3 and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time hit The Drop this week

Dead Space 3 and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time headline this week’s edition of The Drop for Sony hardware. Also scheduled for a launch this week is the action manga Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 and a collection of mini games in Bentley’s Hackpack, which is a cross buy title for the PS3 and the Vita. A few things that are distantly related to the gaming scene (if at all) are a Mensa title meant to give players a boost in IQ-driven tasks, and a Sony Pictures comedy movie which should come to Blu-ray and digital distribution soon.

Dead Space 3

Dead Space 3 is the third main game in the survival-horror series and EA confirmed it was in the works in June last year. The demo has been available for about two weeks now and the game has an interesting drop-in/drop-out model for co-op play, as gamers are tasked at stopping yet another Necromorph outbreak. There is also a new cover system on Tau Volantis, a frozen planet relegated to the backwaters of the universe.

The icy fortress protects a secret which could put an end to the Necromorph plague once and for all, that is if Isaac can brave the new environmental challenges. EA has said that this co-op mode will have more story elements only available when playing as soldier John Carver. Check out the demo release announcement here, where we have added a video detailing the story so far.

Sly Cooper

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is the biggest game yet in the franchise with completely redesigned characters. The worlds in the game are twice as large as those found in previous iterations in the series, and the environments are more vibrant and dense. Real-world physics and signature gameplay elements are set to take players on an immersive journey. In addition, there will be a combination of engaging puzzles and action-filled missions, plus some of the best boss battles for both the PS3 and the PS Vita.

Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 is what players get when the powers of Hokuto Shinken and Nanto Seiken are melded together with the zany action and hordes of enemies prevalent in the Warriors series. Additional moves have been included allowing gamers to sprint and dodge attacks. There’s also Bentley’s Hackpack, a cross buy collection of 4 mini games, each true to the character it represents.

Finally, American Mensa Academy will come to Sony console owners to test their smarts and see where they rank in IQ. And as per the post on the official US PlayStation blog, Here Comes The Boom, a sports comedy film starring Kevin James as former wrestler and biology teacher Scott Voss, should come out on Blu-ray, DVD and through UltraViolet.
