To mark the 10th anniversary of the beloved Lombax and his sidekick robot, Insomniac has crafted a brand new game titled Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault which is all geared up to hit PSN for the PS3 this fall. The developer claims to have come up with the title owing to requests from the community asking for a fresh R&C title with the classic third-person camera that was prevalent in the earlier games.

This title will only be released as a digital download through the PS Store. It is said to kick in the series’ classic feel, camera, controls and weapons. Moreover, the developer reveals that online features will form part of the game as well. These will enable players to experience Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault with their friends. Insomniac Games has also released the game’s first artwork and its logo.
Ted Price, CEO, Insomniac Games, wrote on the official PlayStation blog, “An HD remaster of our classic PS2 Ratchet & Clank games is something our fans have requested for a long time, and we’re looking forward to granting their wishes this summer with the Ratchet & Clank Collection. But we’ve also heard a lot of community requests to develop a new Ratchet & Clank game, one that returns to the classic third-person Ratchet & Clank camera. We listened to your requests, and this holiday season Insomniac will release our new Ratchet & Clank game as part of our 10th Anniversary Celebration.”

As Price mentions, the Ratchet & Clank Collection is also slated to launch for the PS3 this summer. It will comprise re-mastered versions of the original game as well as R&C: Going Commando and R&C: Up Your Arsenal. These titles will all be rendered in full 1080p HD, and will include three platinum trophies in total. It can be pre-ordered now at a price of 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,225).
We’ll be bringing more details of Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault as and when they are released.
