The latest PS Store update has kicked off the PSN 12 for ’12 sale which offers 30 percent discounts on twelve games till January 23, 2012. Moreover, PS Plus subscribers will be provided with 50 percent price cuts on these games. Other highlights of this week’s releases include new PSN titles like Amy and Zack Zero and high-definition downloadable versions of Shadow of the Colossus and Ico.
The twelve titles that make their way into the list of discounted games are PixelJunk SideScroller, Payday: The Heist, Dungeon Defenders, Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, Eufloria, BloodRayne: Betrayal, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken, Cubixx HD, Sideway New York, Rochard and Okabu. According to the official PlayStation blog, these titles are some of the highest-rated PlayStation games of 2011.
Said to be a combination of 3D graphics and 2D platforming games, Zack Zero now retails on PSN at a price of 12.99 USD (approx. Rs. 655). On the other hand, the much touted Amy can be purchased now at 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 500). Shadow of the Colossus and Ico can be bought at 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,010) each. Crysis 2 also hits PSN this week along with Cars 2: The Video Game, both of which can be downloaded individually at 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,015). Other releases comprise Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas which go for 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,010) each.
This week is all set to be a big one for PS Plus members as they will receive exclusive access to the Starhawk beta. Furthermore, full game trials of Cars 2, Crysis 2, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Call Double Agent would also be made available to them. Free demos that can be downloaded this week by all PSN account holders include those of Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning and Castlevania: Harmony Of Despair.
A number of DLCs have also been released through this week’s PS Store update for games like Gran Turismo 5, Battlefield 3, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Worms 2: Armageddon, Saints Row The Third, Dynasty Warriors 7, Disney Universe and more. But the highlight among this lot is the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Flashback Map Pack #1 which comprises four new maps – Sanctuary, Fort, Cave, and Lost City, for the multiplayer game part of the game. This add-on sells at 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 500).
The PSN 12 for ’12, which was unveiled with this PS Store update, will be valid only till January 23, 2012. So, gamers might want to hurry up with their purchases.
