Amy Gets Priced and Dated in Europe, North American PSN Pricing Calls for Votes

Indie publisher Lexis Numérique has revealed details regarding the pricing and release dates of its new game titled Amy. While the Xbox Live version and the European PSN version of this game will be launched on January 11, 2012, it will go on sale via North American PSN a day early on January 10.

On PSN, it will be priced at 12.99 USD (9.9 Euros in Europe), but its Xbox Live version would retail at 800 Microsoft Points. The latter, when converted to dollars, sums up to around 10 USD. Now, it is this price difference that had raised many eyebrows upon the original announcement. This forced the publisher to come up with a community poll to decide the appropriate pricing of Amy. Gamers can have their say by voting on the title’s official Facebook page.

Jose Sanchis, CEO of Lexis Numérique, explained, “We decided to have a new approach to digital distribution by proposing heavy content at a very reasonable price because we believe price is a key issue, especially during hard economic times. Indeed, we believe Amy could have been sold a little bit higher. However, the issue we have to deal with is that a price in MS points doesn’t have the same value in all countries. Indeed, because of fluctuations between the dollar and the euro, 800 MS points are currently worth $10 in the US but €10 in Europe, which is about $12.8.”

This poll is set to end on January 9 at 12:00 PST and if the community decides to drop the price of this game, the PSN version may well suffer a delay of at least one week due to logistic constraints. Set in an American city filled with wild creatures, this survival horror game revolves around an autistic eight-year-old girl who possesses strange powers that force her to make crucial choices.

Amy will be made available for purchase through PSN and Xbox Live on the above mentioned dates. Owing to the poll for the North American PSN version, its release schedule may be subject to change.
