While the North American release date of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time was known to have been set for February 5, it was disclosed only recently that its tryst with Europe won’t be underway until March 27. Both these dates apply to the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game which will be launched with the Cross Buy attribute. The stealth-based platformer will be the first time that a title from the series will be launching solely on the current generation of consoles.
Till date, all the games from the Sly series were developed by its creator Sucker Punch Productions. However, this will be the first one to have a studio named Sanzaru Games at its helm. The said maker was responsible for an HD remake of the three original games that were relaunched for the PS3 in 2010. Announced at the E3 event in 2011, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will feature single-player and offline multiplayer gameplay.
It will be coming out under the Cross Buy promotion that Sony has created for games that are meant for both the PS3 and the PS Vita. Gamers who purchase the home console version will be able to download the handheld version through PSN absolutely free of cost. Moreover, some unique traits will also be made available for those who possess both the platforms. An AR functionality will be made available, letting gamers put their PS Vitas to use in order to search for treasures while playing the title on their PS3s.
Through a post on the official PlayStation blog, a new story trailer for the game has been released. This video can be spotted in the space above. As for the title’s narrative, it picks up where the last game left off. New traits that will form part of this iteration include the costumes which will be available for players to access new abilities. Bentley, Murray and Carmelita Fox will be seen returning as playable characters, while some of Sly’s ancestors will be available as well.
