PlayStation 3 system Crosses the 50 million Sales Unit Milestone

The PlayStation 3 console from Sony unleashed across the gaming arena back in November 2006. The system has since catered to players with different tastes for genres like adventure, RPG, action and puzzle among others. With us well within the year 2011, the PS3 console has made it through the 50 million sales unit milestone worldwide as Sony Computer Entertainment suggests.

Besides revealing the global sales figures of the PS3 console, the company has also shed light on the PlayStation Move numbers. It is claimed that the motion controller has reached the 8 million units mark all across the world. The Sony gaming system boasts of incorporating HDMI and Blu-ray disc player, RSX processors and powerful Cell Broadband Engine. Besides catering to the needs of gamers, the system also offers a plethora of features for entertainment enthusiasts.

Although it’s been five years since its release, the PS3 is still evolving via new and enhanced services and attributes through software updates. Furthermore, the PlayStation Network service also noted to have over 75 million registered accounts and can be accessed in 59 countries strewn all over the world. Blu-ray 3D features and stereoscopic 3D gaming can be enjoyed via a free system software update. Exploiting this attribute are 89 stereoscopic 3D software games that are now available.

As Sony reveals, 155 PlayStation Move supported and dedicated software titles can be acquired. These games include the likes of SingStar Dance, Sports Champions and Killzone 3. There are also more engaging Move titles expected to launch within the confines of this year. Among the array is the highly-awaited SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs.
