For those who found the Bluetooth headset released last year for the PS3 gaming consoles a bit too weighty and discomforting for their aural inlet ducts, will finally have a new redesigned piece of hardware to rejoice about. According to the official PlayStation blog, it has been reported that a new version of the official Bluetooth Headset for PS3 system will hit retail store shelves this month.
Proclaimed to deliver an unprecedented gaming experience, the new accessory is also said to be a ‘must have’ for online multiplayer games like MAG, Killzone 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Sporting a dual-microphone design, an in-game headset status indicator and automatic pairing abilities via USB cable with the PS3, the new Bluetooth Headset bundles a charging cradle which also functions as a desktop microphone. Moreover, the device also has an easily accessible microphone mute button on its surface along with a High-Quality mode that offers crystal clear voice chat while playing games on PS3. All of the features except the charging cradle and the microphone mute button require a PS3 system and PS3 system software version 3.50 or later.
Responding to a query posted on the official PlayStation blog, Anand Agarwal, Sony’s Product Manager for Peripherals said, “The headset has been redesigned to make it more comfortable for long usage time. It is much smaller and lighter now, and a lot friendlier to your ears.”
Revamping the design, the new headset features high-gloss, built-in noise cancellation for filtering out ambient noise while used with PS3 as well as a mobile phone along with a more compact form that is 30% smaller than the previous model. Enabling three-way calling and call waiting, the accessory is also compatible with mobile phones and is reported to offer approximately six hours of talk time.
The new Bluetooth Headset supports Bluetooth 1.1 or higher and arrives this month in the market with a price tag of 49.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,212).
