Racing tracks will soon dazzle as speedy cars prepare to compete on the PS3. Well, System 3 has announced it will soon expand its video game racing franchise with the next Ferrari licensed chapter titled Ferrari The Race Experience. The company has also disclosed that this game will be its first AAA downloadable game.
Simulating a real life-like experience, the game has been devised to imbibe the most efficient race engine technology. Promising to elevate the racing experience which began with the first chapter Ferrari Challenge, this new title will be offered only as a downloadable game. After 18 months of analyzing and evaluating the gaming scene, System 3 states that it is now finally ready to change tracks from physical game distribution to digital downloads for some of its upcoming titles.
“Having recognised the potential in digital downloads some 18 months ago we have kept our powder dry, preferring to gage market and consumer reaction while quietly planning a downloadable release strategy to steal a march on our rivals. Obviously we are not moving away fully from boxed product as we are committed to maximising our games across all formats and Wii games, for example, are still only released as physical product. But we have been extremely proactive in working on a full digital onslaught for a long time and they don’t come much bigger than the first one – Ferrari The Race Experience,” elucidated, Mark Cale, CEO, System 3.
Following the release of Ferrari The Race Experience, System 3 will launch six more games through the Sony PSN and the Apple Store. These titles will be available for the PS3, PSP, iPad and iPhone in about three months time.
Ferrari The Race Experience is expected to release this September through the PlayStation Network. The pricing details are still under the shadow.
