When has Sony not been in the news for its new hardware? First it was the much rumoured PSP Go, which Sony finally announced at this year’s E3. Recently the Japanese company was again in the news for somewhat wrong reasons. News of their new PS3 Slim had apparently been “leaked”. Sony had even announced that there was a drop in the production cost of the PS3 leading many to believe that we would see the price of the PS3 being slashed soon.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, Jeff Rubenstein, Social Media Manager says that you can now buy a PS3 for under 300 US dollars, which means that the PS3 price cuts are effective as of right now. “Yes, now!” as he expresses it. Also the PS3 Slim which caused many a stir in the gaming world is real and it is coming in September.
This news is apparently from gamescom. The Sony PlayStation 3 is now available for 299 USD (approx. Rs. 14,560). The new 120 GB slimmer version of the PS3 will be available starting from September 1, 2009, but prices for this version have not been mentioned.
