From the time Gears of War was released, PS3 gamers were wondering if it would hit Sony’s present generation consoles. But Tecmo already had plans for a third-person shooter with a cover system for the PS3. Called as Quantum Theory, it was unveiled just a few months back.
Now Tecmo has revealed that Quantum Theory started as PC title. Keisuke Kikuchi, the designer of Quantum Theory told Kikizo in an interview, “Initially the game concept was built around this game being a PC game. So the team started working on the gameplay portion on the PC, and the graphics, the project was altered slightly, and we tested out the graphics and visual presentation on the PS3.”
Kikuchi did accept that Quantum Theory is close to Gears of War. According to Keisuke Kikuchi, Tecmo wants to push the details in the shooter to the maximum and they felt that Sony’s console would suit them. Quantum Theory for PS3 is being developed by Tecmo and will be published by them. The game, apparently, is expected to be out in 2009.
