Future PS3 Update to have Trophies

PS3 Trophy Speculations about a trophy feature for the PlayStation 3 have been doing the rounds of the internet from quite some time. Well, it seems that Sony will be adding the trophies feature. Eric Lempel from the PlayStation Network Operations has indicated that the a future PS3 firmware will have the trophies feature.

The trophies feature will be included in the 2.40 system software update for Sony’s next generation console. Before that, they will launch the PS3 firmware update v2.36. It will enhance system stability when playing select PlayStation format games. Eric Lempel is the director of PlayStation Network Operations. This is what he posted on the official PlayStation Blog:

    A new PLAYSTATION 3 firmware update (v2.36) will be launching soon, improving system stability when playing select PlayStation format software titles. We’re also happy to officially report that the 2.40 system software update for PS3 will include “XMB” access in-game. The update will also include “trophies,” an exciting new feature that we’ll be providing more details on soon, as well as some other new enhancements. We’ve talked about some of this on the blog previously and know that many of you can’t wait to get your hands on these features. You can expect us to share all of the official details shortly.

It would be nice to see the trophies feature for the PS3. As for the PlayStation Portable, just yesterday, Sony had announced the new firmware update for their handheld gaming console will have Google search.
