Sony Speaks About Cancellation of Eight Days

Many gamers were shocked when they learnt that Sony had cancelled Eight Days game for the PlayStation 3. There was confusion as to what was the reason behind Sony nixing an action game for the PS3. Now Shuhei Yoshida from Sony has spoken about the cancellation of Eight Days for the PS3.

Shuhei Yoshida is the new head of Sony Worldwide Studios. He told Develop Magazine, “I think that we have more projects that we want to do than we do have resources. So, the cancellation of Eight Days was not necessarily because that project was failing, but because we looked at how it fit in the portfolio and where it fit as a production.” Yoshida then pointed out that as Eight Days was lacking online content, it was part of the consideration.

However, Shuhei Yoshida mentioned that they want to do lots of projects but they have to take into considerations many different angles like profitability, how long it may take, and where it fits in the portfolio. They also have to take into account other strategic aspects. Besides Eight Days, The Getaway for PlayStation 3 was also cancelled.
