Blu-ray Doesn’t Have Enough Space for Metal Gear Solid 4, says Hideo Kojima

The high-def war may have seen the demise of the HD DVD and the Blu-ray emerging on the top, the main reason being the space. However, now gaming blog Kotaku is reporting that Hideo Kojima has mentioned that Blu-ray does not offer adequate storage capacity for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

In an interview with Famitsu, Hideo Kojima said, “For us, we are not still not satisfied with the quality we can do. You know, there’s not capacity space.” To which the interviewer queried if he was speaking about the Blu-ray. Then Kojima answered, “That is correct. There is not enough space at all. There is not enough space. We always talked about where to cut and what to compress.”

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a big game indeed and the disc is expected to not only hold the game but also Metal Gear Online. Just a few days ago, Ryan Payton, who is the assistant producer, had indicated that Japanese voice-over would not be out in the European as well as the American versions of the Metal Gear Solid 4 discs, all thanks to space problems. MGS 4 for the PS3 is expected to be out on June 12, 2008.
