One year ago, we had reported that Koei has stated that the crossover hack and slash game, Warriors Orochi, had reached the gold status. Now one year later they have sent word that the sequel to the game, Warriors Orochi 2, too has gone gold and will release later this month.
Warriors Orochi 2 sees a new group of fighters take on the Serpent King. The game takes place after the events of Warriors Orochi. The Story mode of the hack and slash game features storylines for the kingdoms of Wu, Wei, and Shu, and the Samurai Warriors. There is even a Orochi storyline that looks back to the first series and reveals some of the Serpent King’s secrets.
Warriors Orochi 2 features a newly added Dream mode that has an original storyline different from that of Story Mode. There is even a two-player Versus mode featuring four different games such as ‘Tag Team’ matches. Gamers can also expect popular Team Battle System. The game has more then ninety playable characters from both the series including Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends. There are new characters from the Chinese and Japanese history also.
Warriors Orochi 2 has been developed by Omega Force, which is the internal development team of Koei. The game will be released for the PS2 and the Xbox 360 platforms. It will be launched on September 23, 2008 in North America.
