We earlier reported that Eminem and Jay-Z would bring new music genres to the upcoming DJ Hero game. Now, we have word that world famous turntablist, DJ Jazzy Jeff will be featured in the DJ Hero music video game as a playable character. LL Cool J ‘Rock the Bells’ vs. The Aranbee Pop Symphony Orchestra ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ and Tears for Fears ‘Shout’ vs. Eric B. & Rakim ‘Eric B. Is President’ are the two exclusive mixes that will feature on the acclaimed artist’s very own set list.
“I am very, very excited DJ culture is finally getting its due. To have a song in DJ Hero is a dream come true; to be a character someone can pick up the controller and select you and play is probably the biggest thing to happen to me in my career. Music is so much a part of everyone’s life, DJ Hero is going to appeal to almost everybody,” commented DJ Jazzy Jeff.
DJ Z-Trip, DJ Shadow, DJ AM and Grandmaster Flash are some of the other playable characters featured in the game. DJ Hero features over 100 individual songs which have been highlighted in over 80 unique never-before-released mixes. A turntable controller has been created exclusively for DJ Hero which lets players blend, sample, scratch and cross fade music from across various genres like R&B, electronica, pop, rock and hip-hop.
DJ Hero is currently being developed by FreeStyleGames. It will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, PS2 and Wii consoles. No mention of game prices has been made yet, but the game is slated to release this fall.
