Activision plans to expand on their Guitar Hero franchise with three new games, Band Hero, DJ Hero and Guitar Hero 5 releasing this fall. Now Activision announces that Eminem and Jay-Z, two of the most successful artists in the music industry, will bring new music genres to DJ Hero. The new genres in the game will be R&B, electronic, soul and hip-hop.
Eminem and Jay-Z are set to contribute to the game, a few of their popular songs. They will even take up a collaborative effort for the special branded edition of DJ Hero which will come with an advanced version of the turntable controller and exclusive music CD compilations, each with hits from Jay-Z and Eminem. The special edition will also include a metal traveling case which can be transformed into a DJ stand.
“A DJ has the ability to use music to control people’s emotions and is responsible for the entire vibe of a room, a club or a party,” Jay-Z who has won several Grammies, commented. “DJ Hero is the first video game that allows everyone to enjoy the unique experience of creating that environment.”
“I came up doing freestyle battles on local stages with other MCs and DJs,” Eminem explained. “DJ’ing is an essential part of hip-hop and DJ Hero will give people all over the chance to experience the music from the other side of the turntables.”
“Jay-Z and Eminem are innovators and they share a vision for expanding their genre by letting fans embrace technology and music in new and exciting ways to get the most out of the experience,” president and CEO of Guitar Hero, Dan Rosensweig stated. “Jay-Z and Eminem embody an entire generation and will continue to influence popular culture. Now their fans can experience what it’s like to play the music, mix the music and compete with themselves and others in a game that expands with the user.”
DJ Hero is the innovative game in which music fans can play DJ, scratching and mixing their favorite songs. The turntable controller comes with a fully rotating turntable and sample buttons in addition to a crossfader and an effects dial. The game even allows for 2 player DJ battles.
DJ Hero is in development by FreeStyleGames for the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and Nintendo Wii and is expected to be released this fall, while prices have not been announced. After the game’s launch Jay-Z and Eminem will provide downloadable content to DJ Hero fans.
