Tom Petty debuts on Rock Band while new tracks from Billy Idol and others

MTV Games and Harmonix are back with brand new offerings for Rock Band. The companies reveal that the musician Tom Petty will make his Rock Band debut. They also unveiled new songs from music artists like Jet, Billy Idol and Fleetwood Mac. All these songs are expected to hit the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The Wii Rock Band Music Store also gets new entries from the likes of White Zombie, Grateful Dead and Foo Fighters. Rock Band Unplugged for PSP comprises of tracks from White Zombie and The Zombies.

Tom Petty unleashes his famous solo songs called ‘Runnin’ Down a Dream’ and ‘I Won’t Back Down’. Both these tracks are taken from his 5x platinum Full Moon Fever which was a 1989 album. This particular album was Petty’s first solo album after breaking off from the Heartbreakers. The popular offering made it to the Billboard 200 where it hit the no.3 spot.

The Jet song which can be purchased next week is known as ‘She’s a Genius’. This track is taken from their latest album Shaka Rock. Indecently, the album also lands into stores on August 25, 2009. The English rocker Billy Idol jumps into the DLC offering with his songs ‘Mony Mony’ and ‘Rebel Yell’ while Fleetwood Mac returns with their hits ‘World Turning’ and Don’t Stop’.

All the above mentioned tracks can be purchased as individual songs on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on 27 and 25 of this month respectively. The tracks can be purchased for $1.99 USD (approx. Rs.97), £.99 UK, €1.49 EU or 160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360.

Wii Rock Band Music Store is not left too far behind. The Foo Fighters unveil their tracks namely ‘Lonely As You’ and ‘All My Life’ from their fourth album One By One. Form their self-titled 1995 debut album, the band releases ‘I’ll Stick Around’. Blind Melon song ‘No Rain’ also features in the Wii DLC collection. Dropkick Murphys’ ‘I’m Shipping Up to Boston’ is taken from their album The Warrior’s Code and it is also the soundtrack to the film The Departed.

Besides these tracks, other bands too lend their songs to the Wii Store on August 25. These include Blur – ‘There’s No Other Way’, Eve 6 ‘Inside Out’, Kaiser Chiefs – ‘I Predict a Riot’, Belly – ‘Feed The Tree’, Ghost Hounds – ‘Wind Me Up’ and Godsmack – ‘I Stand Alone’. Other tracks comprise of James Gang – ‘Funk #49’, Mute Math – ‘Typical’, Rob Zombie – ‘War Zero’, Turbonegro – ‘Wasted Again’, White Zombie – ‘Black Sunshine’ and ‘More Human Than Human’.

The Grateful Dead concludes the line-up with ‘Cold Rain & Snow’, ‘Doin’ That Rag’, ‘Don’t Ease Me In’, ‘Fire on the Mountain’, ‘Hell in a Bucket’ and ‘Uncle John’s Band’. Each of these tracks cost $2.00 USD (approx. Rs.98) or 200 Wii Points.

Additionally Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP brings two new tracks namely White Zombie – ‘Black Sunshine’ and The Zombies – ‘She’s Not There’. These new songs are the latest add-ons to the already 33 existing tracks in the music store. The songs will be available for purchase on August 27 for $1.99, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU per track.
