Apparently, players will be able to use any combination of instruments, letting up to four players rock out on any selection of instruments they want. For example, four players can play on a single console with two on guitar and two on the drums. Party Play and RockFest are included in the gameplay modes. In addition, all the downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour will be compatible with Guitar Hero 5 and the features from Guitar Hero 5 will be applied to tracks from GH World Tour.

Exact pricing or release dates are not known for the game but it has been said that Guitar Hero 5 will allow players to play all previously released downloadable music.
