Rock Band adds The Fratellis to its Indie Rock selection

The Fratellis will be making their Rock Band debut with three songs. Previously, Harmonix and MTV games had announced new tracks from the likes of Pat Benatar, The Pretenders and Irish hard rock band Thin Lizzy. Seems like the folks at Rock Band have an affinity for rustic highland-type rock music! Now we hear that three tracks from The Fratellis, a Scottish alternate rock band, would be available at the Rock Band Music Store in the form of downloadable content.

The three track pack includes Henrietta, Flathead and Creeping up the Backstairs, songs from the band’s debut album Costello Music. The band, hailing form Glasgow in Scotland and currently touring with pianist and rhythm guitarist Will Foster, were voted as the Best British Breakthrough Act at the 2007 BRIT Awards by BBC Radio One listeners.

The 3-pack is expected to be released on February 10, 2009 at the Xbox Live Marketplace and on February 12, 2009 at the PlayStation Store. All the tracks are original master recordings. Rock Band 2 is available for the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. Rock Band 2 will set you back about 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,915).

Overall, more than 550 tracks are available to date on compact discs or by download. The Rock Band Music Store allows fans to preview and purchase the tracks and so far, over 30 million tracks have been downloaded. With that many tracks available, players can build up a rock music library of their very own.
