The Sims was Referred to as Toilet Game: Will Wright

Will Wright Every video game (or movie) has an interesting story before it is released; some being exciting and some being related to the inspiration that the developer had! Now in an interview with games website Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Will Wright has said that The Sims was referred to as the ‘toilet game’.

Will Wright is the original designer of The Sims. He explains, “It was a battle, the first few years, inside Maxis. It was referred to as ‘The Toilet game’. It was the game where you clean the toilet. We had a product review meeting at Maxis where we had to decide whether we’d publish this thing or not…and the executive said ‘No, let’s do (something else)’.”

Will Wright later mentioned that the game would either do a million units or just 50! Wright also admitted that he worked on the project in secret and things started taking off only after a tools programmer and he came up with the character interaction and open-ended object. The game designer later concluded by saying that one shouldn’t be discouraged easily and should believe in what they are doing.
