Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to Host 32-Player Matches?

A video leak regarding the forthcoming Call of Duty XP event went on to indicate that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 might allow 32 players to participate in multiplayer matches. Until now, no game in the series has allowed more than 18 persons to participate in a single match. Furthermore, apart from the usual Team Deathmatch mode the YouTube video displayed a new Bomb mode which has never featured in any of the games in the series.

This 25 second video that was unearthed by sfx-360, showed someone accessing the multiplayer menu for the upcoming game. The person who posted it online apparently received access to the Xbox 360s that are going to be used during the tournament. A list of 13 multiplayer maps was also divulged through this video. The names of these maps are Carbon, Coast, Dome, Exchange, Hardhat, Interchange, Lambeth, Meteora, Mogadishu, Paris, Plaza, Radar and Seatown.

However, the earlier title in the series had a total of 14 multiplayer maps. This signifies that the final version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will perhaps have more maps than what are shown in the video. The video in question has now been taken off YouTube due to a copyright claim by developer Activision. Important information about the much anticipated game is expected to be unveiled at the Call of Duty XP event which is to be held from September 2 to September 5.

But for now, whether Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will or will not have 32-player multiplayer capabilities, remains a mystery for gamers. The game is scheduled for a November 8, 2011 release date. It can be pre-ordered currently for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC at a price of 59.99 USD (approx Rs. 2,762).
