Dragon Age Animated Series From Netflix Gets Release Date

Dragon Age: Absolution, the Netflix animated series dedicated to telling a new story set in BioWare’s universe, will be released on the streaming platform on December 9. The six-part series is said to explore “mature subjects concerning freedom, power, and corruption set against the backdrop of adult animation.”

For fans of the series, the new show will act as an introduction of sorts to the setting of the next big game from the franchise – Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Justice League Dark: Apokolips writer Mairghread Scott, is the showrunner for the series.

As for the cast, it includes Kimberly Brooks, who voices the protagonist, Miriam. Other actors include Matt Mercer, Ashly Burch, Sumalee Montano, Phil LaMarr, Keston John, Josh Keaton, Zehra Fazal, and more.

The plot of the animated Netflix series revolves around a dangerous force residing inside an artifact called The Circulum Infinitus. “With great power at stake, a group of mages, fighters, and thieves goes head to head against a sinister force possessing a dangerous artifact,” reads the official blurb.

The Dragon Age series dates back to 2009 when Dragon Age: Origins was released to much critical acclaim. Set in a unique dark fantasy world, it was referred to as a spiritual successor to BioWare’s Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights franchises.

Since then, the series has seen two more main entries. While Dragon Age II came out in 2011, Dragon Age: Inquisition arrived in 2014. Its successor, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, remains under development right now as a direct sequel to the previous entry.

Coming back to Dragon Age: Absolution, all six of its episodes will arrive on the same date on Netflix. As for the release date of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, there’s still no information on that front.
