This Elden Ring Mod Allows You To Pause The Game

Pausing the game is not a thing in Souls-like games such as the newly released Elden Ring. But a fresh mod allows you to do that, albeit with a few caveats. This mod is pretty easy to install but it does mean you’ll have to play the game offline by disabling its anti-cheat measures.

Pause The Game is the name of the mod released by a user named TechieW. Part of the main appeal of games like Elden Ring is the increased difficulty caused by not being able to pause them. However, it gets really frustrating if you’re almost about to beat a monster and there’s someone at the door or you badly need to answer nature’s call.

“This one is for all the dad gamers out there who can’t play for more than 2 minutes straight,” said TechieW on the mod’s message board. And while a ‘Game Paused’ message appears on the screen when you pause it, TechieW has also pointed out that deleting the files ‘hook_textures’ and ‘hook_fonts’ from within the mod will enable Elden Ring to be paused without that message, thus allowing you to capture screenshots.

Elden Ring was released last week and was quick to become one of the highest-reviewed games of 2022. It has been developed by FromSoftware, a studio known for games like Dark Souls that present extremely difficulty and are set in dark fantasy settings. In fact, this game was made in collaboration with Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin, who provided material for its setting.

You can download this mod now for the PC version of Elden Ring through Nexus Mods. The game is also available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
