Diablo 2: Resurrected Announced As Blizzard Reveals Diablo 4’s Fourth Class

Diablo 2: Resurrected

At its annual Blizzcon keynote, Blizzard announced that an HD remaster of Diablo 2 will be released later this year for PC and consoles. It will include the main game from 2000 as well as its Lord of Destruction expansion from the following year, complete with high-resolution 3D visuals and Dolby 7.1 surround sound. Moreover, it has also revealed that the fourth character class in the upcoming Diablo 4 will be the Rogue, which was a playable character in the original Diablo.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is scheduled to arrive on PC, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The game will feature cross-progression but will leave out cross-play for online gameplay. Blizzard has revealed that co-op play for up to eight players will also form part of the game’s offerings.

In terms of graphics, the game will take the 2D sprite-based visuals of the original and layer them with full 3D rendering, dynamic lighting, revamped animations, and spell effects. It is being developed by Vicarious Visions, the same studio that gave us Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 last year.

Coming to Diablo 4’s new character, she can be described as someone with nimble feet who can focus on melee or ranged attacks. She will join the Druid, Barbarian, and Sorceress character classes that have already been revealed for the game by its makers. Diablo 4 was announced back in 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, however, it’s most probably also being developed for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X and S. There’s no release date in sight for the game yet.

And while the same goes for Diablo 2: Resurrected, we at least know that it will be released sometime in 2021.
