Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s PS5 Version Gets Enhanced Performance And Exclusive Content

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Sony’s State of Play event yesterday saw the unveiling of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrate, a PS5 version of the game that’s scheduled to release on June 10. Apart from graphical and performance enhancements, this version will also ship with a new Yuffie Kisaragi episode. While owners of the game’s PS4 version will be able to get the Integrate upgrade on their PS5s, they won’t be able to play the new episode.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrate will bring the game on par with the PS5’s advanced capabilities. Though, we’re not quite sure they are needed since the game looked gorgeous as is on the PS4. The makers have said that improved textures, lighting, and fog effects will be added by the PS5 version, apart from a Graphics Optimization Mode for rendering 4K visuals, and a Performance Optimization Mode for allowing 60fps gameplay.

A Photo Mode is also on the cards, apart from a new Normal (Classic) difficulty option, and improved loading times. As for the exclusive story episode, it will focus on ninja Yuffie Kisaragi and will have her infiltrating the Shinra Corporation to steal a powerful Materia. And although it won’t be available for those who upgrade from their PS4 versions, they will indeed be able to purchase it separately.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake was launched in April last year as a reimagining of the 1997 classic. It was an instant hit among fans and critics and managed to sell over 3.5 million copies within three days of its release. It is the first in a series of planned remakes for the original Final Fantasy 7 and only covers around 30 percent of the entire story. No news is available about any further releases in the series.
