Report: Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Delayed Into 2021

Mass Effect 3

We’ve heard nothing official about the Mass Effect trilogy remaster, but the grapevine did have us informed about its existence. And it now tells us not to expect the troika until early 2021. Earlier reports had pegged the release for October, but there has been a slight hiccup in the development of the remastered version. It’s being said that the remastered version of the first Mass Effect game hasn’t quite reached the level of graphical superiority that the other two games have.

A GamesBeat report that claims to quote “people familiar with the development” has said that developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts are holding off on the release of the Mass Effect trilogy remaster for now. According to the source, the first Mass Effect game currently doesn’t “live up to the quality of the rest of the package.” The concern here is that the big graphical difference between the first and second game would “make a poor first impression for new players.”

This trilogy will reportedly be called Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and will not include the multiplayer portion from Mass Effect 3. However, it will indeed include all the DLC released for the three games following their respective releases. The trilogy was first spotted on a Portuguese retail listing, which said that it’s slated to hit the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.

The first Mass Effect game was released way back in 2007 and was extremely well received for its splendid action RPG gameplay and its story that delved into space politics. It was followed up with a sequel in 2010, while the third game came out in 2012. Mass Effect: Andromeda, with a completely new storyline, came out in 2017 to not so favorable reviews.
