Final Fantasy VIII Remastered release date gets revealed via new trailer

Final Fantasy VIII

Sony has launched a new trailer for Final Fantasy VIII Remastered in which it has revealed its release date. This high-definition version of the game is slated to arrive on a number of platforms on September 3. The game is being developed by Square Enix in collaboration with French studio Dotemu, and is meant for release on the PS4, the Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered was revealed at this year’s E3, where most of the attention was actually grabbed by the announcement of its predecessor’s remake. Not only will the visuals of the 1999 classic get overhauled, but the makers have also planned a number of gameplay enhancements as well. These are mainly aimed at offering faster progression to those who have already played the title in its original form.

Features like triple-speed will be added to it, allowing the game to run at a much faster pace. And then there are battle enhancements that will keep HP and ATB gauges of all characters at max. Moreover, Limit Breaks will always be available, and there will be no random encounters to interrupt your gameplay. Some PC-exclusive features have also been announced. These include the facility to max out your Gil, magic, items and abilities, and unlock all limit breaks.

The original Final Fantasy VIII was first released back in 1999 for the PlayStation, while the following year saw it making its way onto PC. This single-player RPG follows the story of a group of young mercenaries who get drawn into a conflict involving a sorceress from the future who wishes to compress time. Till date, the game has sold more than 9.6 million copies worldwide.

Like we said, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be released for the PS4, the Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch and PC on September 3.
