Dark Souls: Remastered’s Nintendo Switch version gets delayed

May 25 is the date on which Dark Souls: Remastered will be arriving on all its scheduled platforms, except one. The Nintendo Switch version of this remake has been delayed by Bandai Namco sighting that the extra time will be used to tailor the game for the unique features that the console offers.

Dark Souls: Remastered will be hitting the Switch sometime this summer, but is its thankfully keeping its date with the PS4, Xbox One and PC. All these platforms offer single screen experiences, but the Nintendo device on the other hand, with its docked and handheld modes, no doubt presents a challenge to the developers.

They had revealed beforehand that this title will run at 1080p resolution with a 30fps framerate when in TV mode. On the other hand, those with the PS4 Pro, the Xbox One X and capable enough PCs will be able to experience Dark Souls: Remastered in upscaled 4K at 60fps. This really puts forth the severely underpowered nature of the Nintendo Switch.

Another change from the original is that ‘up to six players’ will be able to partake in the online multiplayer part which is one of the major changes from the original versions of the game. It has also been confirmed that the Artorias of the Abyss DLC will come bundled with the game.

The original Dark Souls was released way back in 2011, and had received immense praise for introducing its extreme difficulty settings which presented a unique challenge to gamers. A sequel to the game was released in 2014, and was followed by another sequel in 2016.

Like we said, Dark Souls: Remastered will be released for the PS4, the Xbox One and PC on May 25 as planned, but its Nintendo Switch version will arrive sometime later.
