Those awaiting Fallout 4, and are all geared up to play it on their PCs are in for a surprise. Word from Bethesda itself has confirmed that the title’s physical discs won’t contain the full game. Those who buy them will need to download a chunk via Steam in order to start playing.
Prior to this, games from the developer were only required to have an authentication on Steam, but fans will be angry to hear that they’ll need to download a portion of Fallout 4 despite having bought it on disc. The reason most people prefer buying their games this way is that they have slow or sketchy Internet connections. The Steam download is hence a cause of concern for them.
Bethesda’s boss Pete Hines has revealed this news via Twitter, while arguing that it’s not that big a deal due to the fact that all Bethesda games on PC require Steam authentication these days, as opposed to their console versions. He has also added that while the console versions ship on high-capacity Blu-ray discs, the PC versions still come on DVDs.

Fallout 4 happens to be the fifth major installment to Bethesda’s franchise of post-apocalyptic games. It will be released for the Xbox One, the PS4 and PC on November 10, and is one of the most anticipated titles of this year. This action role-playing game has been revealed by its makers to run at 1080p resolution on all three platforms, but its frame-rate has been capped by them at 30fps.
