Little Orbit will be at the helm of the development of Mistborn: Birthright, an RPG which is slated to release for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac during the fall of 2013. This game will be set in the fantasy world featured in the Mistborn novels which are penned by author Brandon Sanderson.

The RPG is said to transpire in a dark world of ash, mist and gothic fantasy creatures. This universe is dominated by an immortal villain known as the Lord Ruler. The game also includes characters who use a rule-based magic system known as Allomancy. These powers allow them to temporarily enhance their physical and mental abilities by ingesting and ”˜burning’ flakes of metal.
Matthew Scott, CEO of Little Orbit, mentioned, “I’m a huge fan of the series, and I cannot wait to get this into the hands of gamers. Between the distinctive magic system, the story twists Brandon has planned for the game, and the rich depth of character skills, we’re creating something very unique for players to enjoy.”

Although this title is set in the same Mistborn universe as the novels, it will contain a completely new narrative. Written by Sanderson himself, the story will take place hundreds of years before the first novel. It will lay emphasis on a combat system that places Allomancy into the hands of gamers. Playing as Fendin ”˜Fiddle’ Fathvell, who’s an arrogant young nobleman, they will be required to master his newfound Allomantic abilities before his enemies can destroy his entire family.
Very few details are available currently about Mistborn: Birthright. We’ll keep gamers posted with all the important information as and when it’s released.
