Rainbow Moon gets Detailed Even More, New Screenshots, Trailer in Tow

It’s high time we heard a bit more about the Rainbow Moon RPG which went official back in November 2011. A post on the PlayStation US blog has brought forth additional in-depth details on the game’s battle system.

Besides exploration and character development being the primary objectives, the game concentrates a lot on battles as well. By combining classical elements with new approaches including random encounters, players can battle it out against foes roaming through the planet. This feature is said to be optional and won’t be active until agreed to.

“Although much of Rainbow Moon’s appeal is in its exploration and character development, the battles are what matter most. Akin to our Soldner-X game series, we have taken an innovative approach by combining classical elements with new ideas. An example is the triggering of battle encounters. Random encounters? Yes or no? Well, how about both?! In Rainbow Moon you will find foes roaming the surface of the planet and have a chance to battle in additional random encounters. The latter, however, are 100% optional and can be disregarded if you so decide,” expressed Marcus Pukropski, CEO at SideQuest Studios.

The title is turn-based and flaunts grid-sized maps for battles. Players will have the ability to take their time and carry out the necessary moves through the wide availability of commands. They range from move, attack, skill, defend, use an item, to escape. With around 100 enemies from 17 classes, foes are capable of self-destructing, fleeing and commencing various attacks.
