Sci-Fi RPG Darkspore Scheduled for an Early 2011 Release

Earlier this month we had reported about a new action RPG related to EA’s Spore franchise which was scheduled to be revealed at Comic-Con this week. Now Electronic Arts Studio Maxis sheds light on its new project entitled Darkspore. The next offering in its acclaimed line-up of PC games is noted to be an online science-fiction action RPG title.

Darkspore

Darkspore is packed with a mixture of fiction and fast-paced action that transports players into strange alien worlds. They are then tasked with the mission of saving the universe from the mutated Darkspore forces. The game will come complete with full single-player campaign as well as a four-player co-operative offering and intense multiplayer battles.

“Darkspore is inspired in part by the award-winning creature editor tech of Spore, but also in large part from the team’s own passion for gaming and prior experience,” explained Lucy Bradshaw, General Manager of Maxis Studio. “The team has combined these inspirations to produce a unique take on the action RPG genre.”

To aid players in their dangerous endeavor against the Darkspore, the game provides them with a wide array of living weapons and genetic heroes with different combat abilities. They can then be upgraded with loads of collectible armor and body parts as they traverse along the game.

There are three unique classes featuring five various genetic hero types which are offered with unlimited upgrade and customization options found on each planet level. As the game progresses, players will encounter new enemy forces and planets where they have to opt for the right squad and combinations in order to succeed.
