Death Stranding Sequel In Negotiations, Says Norman Reedus

Death Stranding

Death Stranding could very well get a sequel and that’s great news considering how well the Hideo Kojima game was received by fans and critics alike. This isn’t something that Sony or Kojima have confirmed, however, as it’s the lead actor Norman Reedus who has spilled the beans about this possible follow-up.

According to AdoroCinema, while speaking to journalists at a press event for The Walking Dead, Reedus said, “I think we’re doing a second Death Stranding. [Death Stranding 2] is in negotiations right now. So… yay!” Of course, this is a Google Translate translation, so make of it what you may.

That said, a Death Stranding sequel seems logical for Sony considering the game has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide on the PS4 and PC. The fact that the game’s narrative ever so slightly resonated with what we’ve suffered through the pandemic was also one of the reasons for its success.

Death Stranding is all set to receive a Director’s Cut as well. Arriving on September 24, this version has seemingly targeted gamers who veered off the game due to its jarringly long length that was further lengthened by the long walks the character had to take while carrying precious cargo.

The Director’s Cut will make those tasks easier with stuff like thrusters for your jetpack that enable you to glide to safety and a cargo catapult that allows you to fire cargo to faraway areas. Moreover, a Buddy Bot will also be introduced to carry the main character around. All this will of course be accompanied by PS5 enhancements including support for a 4K 60fps performance mode.

As we said, September 24 is when the Death Stranding Director’s Cut will hit the PS5. As for its sequel, considering it gets passed in the first place, expect it to take at least five more years to arrive given how much time Kojima takes to work on his games.
