Spider-Man: Remastered’s PS4 Saves Won’t Work On PS5

Spider-Man PS4

Spider-Man: Remastered, the graphically upgraded version of the extremely adored 2018 title, is coming to the PS5 as part of the pricier Deluxe Edition of its sequel Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It has now been confirmed that those who played it on the PS4 won’t be able to pick things up from where they left off in the game. Developer Insomniac Games has revealed that PS4 saves won’t carry over to the PS5 version of the game.

The developer was replying to fan questions on Twitter when it made the revelation. “What will happen if I put my PS4 Spider-Man disc in my PS5?” one fan had asked. To this, Insomniac replied, “You’ll play PS4 game via backwards compatibility.” Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a sequel that’s headed to the PS4 as well as the PS5 in the form of separate releases. The PS5 version will also be offered in the form of a Deluxe Edition costing $70.

Insomniac has said previously that the PS5 version will feature a complete revamp to the game’s art assets, among other things. The developer had revealed, “You’ll also see ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows, improved lighting, more pedestrians and vehicles stretching further into the distance, and the same optional performance mode offered on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, allowing you to finally play the game at a targeted 60FPS frame rate. We’ll be supporting near-instant loading, 3D audio, and the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback. Lastly, we’re adding three amazing new Spider-Man suits, new photo mode features, and even new trophies for those of you looking to Platinum the game all over again.”

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released for the PS4 and the PS5 on November 12 in North America and November 19 in the rest of the world.
