Uncharted movie is “everything he dreamed it would be,” says Tom Holland

Tom Holland is currently involved in filming the extremely delayed Uncharted film and in an Instagram live session that he did recently, the Spider-Man actor said it’s “everything he dreamed it would be.” 2009 was when the project was first announced officially and it was only earlier this year that filming actually began. Holland plays a very young Nathan Drake, while Mark Wahlberg has been cast as a younger Sully. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Venom) is directing the film.

Holland’s Instagram live session involved him chatting with a fan who asked him about his current projects. According to Eurogamer, he said about the Uncharted film, “Filming is going so well. The film is like, everything I dreamed it would be. I mean, I don’t know if you guys played the games, but I was such a huge fan of the game, and it’s been going so well.”

July is when the Avengers star started shooting for the movie and prior to that, he had said, “I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don’t is that it’s an origin story to the games. So if you played the games, you haven’t seen what’s going to happen in the film,” he said. “And if you haven’t played the games, you’re going to enjoy the film because it’s information that everyone else is getting at the same time. But I’m super excited to make that movie and it’s been a long time coming.”

The Uncharted film has gone through several producers and directors since it was first announced. Its script focuses on the origin story of Nathan Drake and his future mentor Victor Sullivan. The supporting cast includes Antonio Banderas, Sophia Taylor Ali and Tati Gabrielle. Sony is currently aiming for a July 2021 release.
