Dota 2 arrives on Mac and Linux as well

After enjoying a pretty long beta run, Dota 2 was finally released for PC earlier this month, and now it’s time for Mac and Linux users to grab their share of the action, as the game has landed on Steam for the two platforms as well. Along with this, it has also come to light that a new update for the Dota sequel is live, looking to infuse it with fresh features including changes to its user interface, visuals, matchmaking and gameplay.

The minimum requirements if a person is trying to run the game on a Mac system include the OS X Lion 10.7 version of the operating system and 4GB worth of RAM. Furthermore, 8GB of hard drive space will also be needed to occupy the game files of Dota 2. As far as graphics are concerned any GPUs higher than the Nvidia 320M, Radeon 7000 or the Intel HD 3000 will be supported, along with these three.

The Linux version of Dota 2 will ask for Ubuntu 12.04 to be a minimal requirement. At least a dual core processor from Intel or AMD clocked at or above 2.8GHz should be present to run the title. 4GB of RAM and 8GB of hard drive space remains common, whereas Nvidia GeForce 8600/9600GT, ATI/AMD Radeaon HD2600/3600 and an OpenGL 2.1 OpenAL compatible sound card have also been mentioned to be minimal requirements to run Dota 2.

A free-to-play offering, Dota 2 is a successor to a famous World of Warcraft mod, and has been created by Valve. It can be downloaded now through Steam for PC, Mac as well as Linux.
