Dota 2 opens up seamless access

Dota 2 has got rid of its sign-up requirements and limited access restrictions, as Valve has announced that anyone can now jump into the free-to-play game through Steam. Valve it seems is completely confident about allowing a huge influx of players into the game at once, as it has revealed that all the needed server management upgrades have been taken care of already, apart from improvements to its overall infrastructure.

About 6.5 million active monthly users play Dota 2 at the moment, and the number is definitely set to swell up now that it has been made easily accessible to everyone. The game can be downloaded for free right now through Steam by clicking on the Play Game option. For those interested there’s even the option of micro-transactions to speed up their progress.

The beta testing phase of Dota 2 which had begun back in 2011 just ended earlier this year, and since then, registered users were being let into the game in waves to test the handling power of the servers. But now there is absolutely no such restriction barring players from getting into the title.

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena video game which acts as a sequel to the Defense of the Ancients mod released for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Its basic concept involves two teams of five players each, occupying a fortified stronghold at either end of the map, with both trying to destroy each others’ ‘Ancients.’
