Just recently we heard the news that Steam was getting a makeover and an updated version of the platform was available in public beta. This new version was apparently chalked out to deal with the immense growth of users on the platform. And now rumours have crept up that Steam from Valve may be coming to the Mac.
According to the Steam Forums, the Windows-only software from Valve could soon be getting Max OS X support. The cause for all this speculation seems to be a few Mac OS X-specific graphics dug up from the open beta of Steam that was launched just recently. The images are very Mac-like and image names begin with “osx”.
Even so, most of the games in Steam’s huge library are just for Windows. So probably Valve is simply offering Mac users access to games already available on Steam which run on that platform, or they are planning to port Windows PC-based games for the Mac.
But some note that these images could just point to the existence of a Mac OS X-based theme.
