Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War II Goes Gold, says THQ

It’s been a long time since a Warhammer game has been released. A few months ago, we had reported that THQ had announced Warhammer 40, 000 Dawn of War Soulstorm expansion. But what gamers were waiting for this year is the sequel to the game. Now THQ sends word that Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II has gone gold.

He says, “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II will build on the critical acclaim and commercial success of the Dawn of War franchise, letting players experience RTS gaming like never before. Combining non-linear gameplay, cooperative multiplayer, cinematic visuals, and destructible battlefields brings a new, innovative dynamic to the genre.”

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II is not only expected to feature stunning visuals but also destructible environments. It offers visceral combat along with a non-linear single-player experience and a fully cooperative multiplayer campaign. And yes, it makes use of the Games for Windows Live service and that is free for the game.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II has been developed by Relic Entertainment and will be published by THQ. The PC-exclusive game will be powered by the Essence Engine 2.0. It is scheduled to out on February 19, 2009. The RTS also made it to our list of the top 7 games of 2009.
