Sony Online Entertainment MMOs Come To Valve’s Steam

It seems that Valve wants Steam to be the premier destination for the PC gamers. Just last month, Valve announced that their online service would offer EA games like Spore and NFS Undercover. Now Valve sends word that massively multiplayer online games from Sony Online Entertainment would be available on Steam.

John Smedley is the president of Sony Online Entertainment. He explains, “We are always looking for additional ways to bring in our great catalog of games to new audiences. It is hard to think of a larger group of PC gamers interested in multiplayer games than those connecting to Steam. We have long been a leader in MMOs and this agreement will help bring our thrilling content to millions of additional online gamers around the world.”

Jason Holtman is the director of business development at Valve. Holtman says, “Sony Online Entertainment pushed the MMO genre and PC gaming into new era with the launch of EverQuest. SOE continues to evolve the genre and PC gaming with new universes such as Vanguard and Pirates of the Burning Sea, while endlessly expanding the EverQuest and EverQuest II worlds with over 20 total expansions delivered electronically since the first EQ was released in March 1999.”

Gamers can expect titles such as Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Pirates of the Burning Sea as well as the EverQuest series. Even the EverQuest Seeds of Destruction and EverQuest II The Shadow Odyssey, which are the recently released expansions are available. Also, Valve is offering EQ Secrets of Faydwer, EQII Rise of Kunark, Pirates of the Burning Sea and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes at a special introductory price.
