Empire: Total War Available via Steam

Empire: Total War, a game by Sega and The Creative Assembly can now be obtained via Steam, which has more than 20 million accounts registered the world over. Empire: Total War is the latest in the Total War series and has made extensive use of the Steamworks Suite of services.

“Working with Steamworks was very straightforward,” stated Mike Simpson, Creative Director at The Creative Assembly. “The small investment of time to integrate Steamworks not only saved us development time, it helped us develop a better product that we can easily extend with updates and downloadable content post launch.”

“By providing deep integration of Steamworks into their product, the team at The Creative Assembly was able to focus on the multiplayer gameplay of Empire and not worry about the back end services,” remarked Jason Holtman, director of business development at Valve. “Meanwhile, the marketing and sales organizations at Sega were able to use Steamworks to create and fulfill unique pre-order campaigns at retail and online with exclusive content offers such as special units and offering incentives such as Rome: Total War for no charge.”

With Empire, the Total War series shifts to the Age of Enlightenment during the eighteenth century and brings in radical new features such as new Trade and Diplomacy systems, true 3D battles and much more.

Empire: Total War has been developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega and is available exclusively for the PC. Previous games developed using Steamworks include F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin and Dawn of War II. Empire: Total War also gets a mention on our top 7 PC games of 2009 list.
