BioShock Movie Will Honor Elements of the Game: Ken Levine

Whether it is books or video games, when movies are made on these things, most of the times the films are not faithful to the source. This angers the fans of the original IP, who end up hating the movie. But now Ken Levine, the designer of BioShock, has said that the movie will honor the elements of the game.

Speaking with gaming blog VG247 at the Develop conference in UK, Ken Levine explained, “You are always going to be worried that in that first meeting they are going to be, like, ‘OK, it is Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey on a desert island hunting for pirate treasure,’ but it’s not going to go that way. My expectation at this time, from everything that I have heard, is that it will very much honor the dramatic and thematic elements of the game… They certainly understand the material and are able to provide a stamp of their own.”

The BioShock movie will be directed by Gore Verbinski, who has previously worked on Pirates of the Caribbean, Mouse Hunt and the Ring. The film based on BioShock is expected to be out by 2010. A few weeks ago, we had reported that the BioShock movie could release along with BioShock 3.
