Crossfire is Now Conflict: Denied Ops

It seems that Eidos has suddenly got superstitious! They have announced that Crossfire was the working title and now the game will be known as Conflict: Denied Ops. It is an innovative new two player co-op first person shooter and is the fifth game in the Conflict series.

Set in today’s unstable political climate, Conflict: Denied Ops focuses on two clandestine field operatives, experts in weapons and military tactics. It lets gamers switch seamlessly, at any point, between these two operatives to lay down covering fire, travel around diverging paths through the levels, make distractions and pin the enemy under fire.

Conflict: Denied Ops takes place in politically sensitive areas across South America, Africa and Russia and features intuitive command system, non-stop action and Hollywood-esque explosive moments. The game also permits gamers to shoot through walls to create sniping holes or blast through walls to take the adversary by surprise.

Alex McLean is the technical director at Pivotal Games. He says, “This is our first chance to build up a Conflict game for next-gen platforms. Working on the 360 and PS3 we have been able to take the series to new heights, with true next-gen lighting, advanced enemy AI, an explosive environment and unique tactical co-op gameplay. CONFLICT: DENIED OPS marks a new era for the Conflict series.”

Conflict: Denied Ops will be developed by Pivotal Games and will make use of their new Puncture Technology. The game will release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC in 2008. It seems to be nice, but the best part is that it is a co-op shooter and that’s what will make Conflict: Denied Ops one hell of a game.
