Microsoft to Add Second Heat-Sink to the Xbox 360?

Since the time, Microsoft has released the Xbox 360, gamers have had one major complain regarding the next-gen console, overheating. In fact, the Red Ring of Death sent shivers down the spine of all the gamers who owned the console. It is equivalent to the PC’s Blue Screen of Death.

However, According to gaming website MaxConsole, Microsoft may be planning to add one more heat-sink to the Xbox 360 in order to keep it cool and healthy. In fact they have got photographs about it. Some Xbox 360 users in France and the Czech Republic who had sent their consoles for repairing were in for a surprise as they found a new additional heat-sink on the motherboard! Microsoft have neither denied nor confirmed the report.

A spokesperson for Microsoft told Gamesindustry.biz, “Regularly updating console components is commonplace within the industry and is a standard aspect of the business for a variety of reasons including cost reduction, improved manufacturability and improved performance. We do not provide details on these updates.”

So, Xbox 360 gamers will be saved from the Red Ring of Death. However, there is no word as to how Microsoft will implement the new plan. It is not confirmed whether newly manufactured units will have the additional heat-sink or whether Microsoft is only adding them to the consoles which have been sent for repair.
