It seems that the rumors about a new WoW expansion were true! Yesterday at BlizzCon, Blizzard unveiled the Wrath of the Lich King expansion for their massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft.
It will feature new levels of power, difficult new dungeons and encounters, an exhilarating new character profession, and the game’s first hero class. World Of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich is set in Northrend, which gamers had last experienced in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.
It all began when Arthas Menethil combined with the spirit of Ner’zhul to become the Lich King, one of the most powerful beings in the Warcraft universe. Now he broods on the Frozen Throne deep in Icecrown Citadel, holding the rune blade Frostmourne and assembling the undead armies of the Scourge. The Wrath Of The Lich King expansion sees the forces of the Alliance and the Horde go into fight against the Scourge in the middle of Northrend’s howling winds and fields of sharp ice.
It builds upon the foundation established in World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade. Here are the new features of World Of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich King:
Mike Morhaime is the president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. He says, “This expansion will add some of the most infamous characters and settings from the Warcraft universe to World of Warcraft. In addition to new story content, Wrath of the Lich King will introduce a number of features specially requested by players over the past couple of years. We are looking ahead to sharing further details with everyone as development progresses.”
The announcement of World Of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich King was made in front of more than 8,000 gamers. Some months ago, Blizzard had released the first expansion of WoW, The Burning Crusade, which sold 3.5 million copies world wide! It seems that Wrath Of The Lich King too will get the same reception.
